  1. Measure one teaspoon of herbs for every 8 ounces (237 ml) of water. (You can incorporate two teas)
  2. Bring water to a boil.
  3. Place the measured herbs in a tea infuser or teapot.
  4. Pour the boiling water over the herbs.
  5. Let the herbs steep in the water for 15 minutes.
  6. After 15 minutes, remove the tea infuser or strain the loose herbs from the water.
  7. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
  8. Once the tea has cooled, it is ready to drink.
  9. Enjoy your tea at room temperature!

How often can you steam?

You can steam 1 to 3 times per month. Preferably in the week leading up to your menstrual cycle in which you will likely see a change in the fluid you pass when your cycle begins and also after your cycle, to clear out any excess materials. (always keep yourself warm after steaming).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Vaginal Steaming Equipment should be cleaned thoroughly before using it. (don’t use harsh chemicals to clean steaming equipment)

PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND ENSURE IT IS NOT TOO HOT TO SCALD YOURSELF. Wave your hand 8 inches over the herbal water to make sure it is not too hot. If the steam ever feels too hot, stand up immediately and wait for it to get cooler.

DO NOT USE PLASTIC. BEST SUITABLE REGULAR-USE IRON POTS, AND STAINLESS STEEL BOWLS.

*Plastics contain numerous compounds that shouldn’t be in your body. Heat and steam tend to make it easier for those compounds to break apart and it can be harmful.

Avoid Yoni Steams if:

  • You are pregnant or think you may be pregnant! • You are currently bleeding. • Have an active vaginal infection (it is best to treat infections internally first before steaming) or open wounds. •If you have an IUD or another contraceptive device in place.
    •Remove piercings if you have any.

 How to Yoni Steam?

In a medium-covered pot, pour 8 cups of water (preferably purified water). Place one packet of dried herbs into the water. Bring water to a soft boil for 5 minutes. Turn off the heat, leave the lid on and steep for another 5 minutes with the lid on. Wave your hand 8 inches over the herbal water to make sure it is not too hot. (You can use a specific pot or bowl for your Yoni Steaming only) where you can put the pot/bowl of water on the ground (be careful of hot metal pots and wood floors), and wrap your towel around the pot to protect your legs from the heat. Drape a large blanket or sheet around your waist down to the floor making sure no steam escapes. Remove your underwear and kneel with your knees on either side of the pot, or squat over for about 15 to 20 minutes.

If you have a chair or stool with a hole in the center you can put your bowl/pot of herbal water in, sit over and drape with a large blanket or sheet around your waist down to the floor making sure no steam escapes for about 15 to 20 minutes.

If you’ve never yoni steamed before, these are a few things that may be different for you:

•Your first period may be heavier than normal. It may have more clots, it may be darker in color, and/or you may have more cramping the first day (or a couple of days).
•Your period may also come earlier than expected. This is because your uterus is finally shedding/releasing the clots & tissues from previous periods that have built up along your uterine lining over time. The yoni steam herbs encourage your womb to contract – this will explain any additional cramping.
•Your clitoris may feel more sensitive than usual due to yoni steaming increasing blood circulation to your yoni parts.
•You may feel a light pulsating sensation in your vagina – this would also be due to the increased blood circulation now flowing to your pelvic area and muscles.
•Emotionally, you may feel more sensitive and aware of your feelings because yoni steaming is a time when you can finally sit with your feelings and what’s been happening for you over the past few months/weeks.
